The Dzongri top is an optional hike during the Goechala Trek which a number of companies skip. Should you hike up to the Dzongri top or avoid it?
Read on to find why this hike is a must do.

Dzongri top – hike up or avoid?

The first rays of the sun falling on Kunchenjunga peak is a sight to behold! From Dzongri top (4143 meters), the view is astounding and it is like watching a time-lapse video of sunlight chasing the darkness down the snowy mountain slopes.

You’ll get a 360-degree view of snow covered peaks from the Dzongri top. In the morning sunlight, these peaks glitter like a necklace of diamonds.

It is definitely worth doing the short hike to the Dzongri top. The distance is less than 1 km (one way) from the Dzongri campsite. To see the sunrise, you’ll need to leave early. At the time you leave, the temperature will be negative and it won’t be the most comfortable feeling to get out of the warm sleeping bag. But it will be a rewarding experience. It will take around 45 to 60 minutes to reach the top at an easy pace.
